Charles Henry Drew Tombstone
Charles Henry Drew was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts on 27 Aug 1844, the youngest son in the family. His oldest brother, David Lewis Drew had migrated to California during the Gold Rush.
The generations old family business of sailmaking was on the decline with technological changes, so he followed David west to Calaveras County, California to make a life and fortune.
Charles married Emma Louisa Burger on 22 May 1867 in Copperopolis, Calaveras, California.
They had four children, Anna Belle, Ada May, David Henry and Maud Alice. Anna and David died before their twelfth birthdays.
On 31 Jul 1890, Charles died at the age of 45, leaving Emma to raise their surviving young daughters.
He is buried in the Copperopolis Cemetery in Calaveras County along with his wife, brother, sister-in-law and nephews.
